After the installation of Linux-Debian it might happen that the Iceweasel-Browser doesn’t play flashvideos. This post tells you how to fix that problem by explaining the proper installation of the flashplayer for Iceweasel on Debian-OS.

Download flashplayer and install it

First of all download flashplayer for Linux from the Adobe-Website as a ‘tar.gz’-Archive:

http://get.adobe.com/de/flashplayer/

Unzip the archive with your archive-software. The content consists of the ‘usr’-folder and the file ‘libflashplayer.so’. In a first step copy the ‘libflashplayer.so’-file to the ‘plugins’-folder of the iceweasel-webbrowser. You may use this Shell-command:

cp libflashplayer.so /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/

In a second step recursively copy the ‘usr’-folder with its content to the ‘usr’-folder in your Debian-OS:

sudo cp -r usr/* /usr

Last but not least restart your Iceweasel-webbrowser. Now flash should work properly.
